In this arrangement of the Bolero Christian Beyer dares something that would certainly have led most arrangers to throw up their hands in despair. The result is striking: a version (stylish and sensibly cut) of the well-known masterpiece, which, through clever instrumentation, totally exploits the wind quintet’s timbres and tonal possibilities. The ostinato by the snare drum can be added ad libitum. For the first 4 measures, oboe and clarinet key clicks are responsible for introducing the rhythm.
