This Urtext Edition of Bartí_k's Sonata for Solo Violin, one of the most important solo string works of the 20th century, restores to print many details of Bartí_k's original manuscript, most significantly the passage in quarter-tones removed for the Sonata's first performance. The editionhas been prepared by Peter Bartí_k and includes an extended preface and the reproduction of two letters from the composer to Yehudi Menuhin, forwhom the work was written.
